Lets see the thread layout.
I use YAF for my website. A hugely popular online motorcycle community. YAF has excellent features for freeware. Admin features are great with all the features you would need. Member features are easy and user friendly, great for a online community just starting. Moderator features give mods everything they need to keep a forum running smoothly.
With no current support for photo albums you may want to look elsewhere if you plan on having photo albums. But I believe photo album support is coming. Check the website.
I have been using the forum over a year now. They have constant updates and the forum help community has been great.
I definitely recommend this forum.
Thank you, Shane. v1.9.4 RC2 has an albums feature.
Although the setup can be a little difficult for new people - this forum is an excellent option to use on any ASP.NET website. I have used this version from pretty early on and have upgraded since. The support forums are teeming with advice and support for the forums and new features and functionality is constantly being added. If you're considering adding forums to your site - evaluate this option first.
YAF a great work! New version 19.4 RC2 is released. It's a very talented version also looks beautiful )
How do we use this layout of message posts? More specifically the threaded view as in this page using yaf.
Pros: open source forum and the best Heleprs there
Cons: installing needs attention
Summary: if you want to use asp.net then this is the best forum out there.. reason? well man if you want a feature you ask them and they get it
I've been using YAF since May 2011 and like it a lot as do the members of my site. It's snappy, consistent and the support is very admirable. Especially tha_watcha, who I'm surprised hasn't put me on ignore, yet.
I keep my site updated with both the latest versions of DotNetNuke and YetAnotherForum, feel free to bounce to it and check it out! PackersHome.com
SIDE NOTE: I've been running sites (both Linux an Windows) for more than a decade and in my experience, if you're experiencing erratic load times, it's most likely your host, not the software. You'll know what I mean if you go with GoDaddy, Arvixe, or the like.
Did you mention GoDaddy, arvixe, etc. because they are good or bad?
GoDaddy and Arvixe were both terrible when it came to page load consistency. Arvixe also had really poor customer service in my experience. The best I found was dotNet-host.com but it was hacked a month ago and the main site has yet to come back online, however the hosted sites (such as mine) are still accessible.
Still using YAF and still loving it. the_watcha is an insanely awesome help.
I love YAF
Currently i am using YAF Version 220.127.116.11 and its awesome.
Though the installation process took me 2 hours to figure out but ultimately it was a win win.
I would love to request for a small feature :
