XenForo sucks. I don't know why people think it's great. It's design is ugly, it lacks features... They would be fine as a free software, but paid they are just the joke of the commercial softwares.
Man, you guys suck.
Agree they suck so bad i bet they are VBulletin idiots.
XenForo sucks so much I don't even know why I pirated at first place!
XenForo just has a dumb style... All you have to di is change it, also theres loads of addons like xenporta and things like that that make it better
Agreed, I hate Xen, ACP is a mess and even as a user it's really annoying and has a terrible layout.
ACP is great and well organized... I think you never used for more than 5 minutes.
XenForo is great and brings some good new features to the table. I disagree with the above and think the default design is reasonable. However you should never judge a forum by it's default theme because you're not normally going to use it.
It still has some bugs - one very annoying one deleted my thread which was a whole tutorial on something because it became "corrupted" which is what would make me stay away from XenForo.
It's very good but it has a long way to go. Not worth $140 yet.
3 years later still not anywhere near worth 140.00 and paid extras.
man xenforo is the best i have used till date...its beats other softwares easily....check my xenforo site-
oh sorry its.... forum.mobilecornerz.com
Your forum looks like shit. Way to represent the idjits that jumped ship to go over to an untried software.
if your doing to say that at least don't hide, blimey grow some BALLS and get a life. *Cough* VBulletin / IBP Fan *Cough*
Love your forum mate might sign up.
The "head" of xenforo are well-known ex-core developers of jelsoft (vBulletin). XenForo is young and has not-that-much features yet (1.. But they have a great Plugin Community and are frendly. At Version 1.1, there will be a lot of new features which makes it really competition ready. The Version 1.1 will come out soon (around october 2011).
Easily the best forum software available. I'm managing both IPB and vBulletin boards, and XenForo has the best interface and management options, hand down.
Out of IP.Board, vBulletin, MyBB, SMF1.11/2 and phpBB3; this is the finest forum software I have had the pleasure of using.
The community support rivals any other, and the official support is even better. Many features that it has brought have already been 'borrowed' by other software, which is clear indication that it is indeed the way forward.
Definitely better value than vBulletin and IP.Board, both of which I recommend stearing clear of (IP.Board's community are all fanboys who charge for the most basic of plugins and themes plus their support team are brash and pretentious, and vBulletin's support is awful plus their stance on other software is frankly offensive).
I have used Free softare MyBB and paid version of Vbulletin 3.8 / 4.0 and the publishing suite, i love the VBuletin 3.8 series which was developed by the fantastic team which creates XenForo, the 3.8 series is going and they are moving to 4.1.x therefore i needed to move onto another software. I brought a license and loved it, i will be using XenForo for a long time, their support is so helpful and it shows how Jellous VB are opening cases against the better competitor.
XenForo is easy to customise, its Fast, XHTML Ready, Css3 ran so you can customise the life out of it and it will be the best you love. Every Version something new and great comes to XenForo unlike the other software where they only fix bugs, there aren't many bugs in XenForo because it is Stable!
Pros: Fast, easy, looks amazing
Cons: Too expensive
Summary: Fast, easy, looks amazing but expensive
Amazing. The best forum software out there for newbies. I love it.
Yeah I totally agree with you. Xenforo is good for newbie
That why I love Xenforo. I hope their will be the best Forum ever in one day
Summary: The fans are rude. They run all over webmaster forums attacking anyone who dares ask questions or dares to suggest that they prefer other forums.
I bought the base package for $140 USA dollars. Added an extended search addon for another $50. Received a password which allowed me to download the software. Preliminary installation on linux localhost was a breeze. I tried to download an SMF importer utility from the main XenForo website. I saw a "permission denied" popup. What? I paid for the software. Why didn't you "update user set resource_priv=1 where user_id=me"
This is lame. I sent two emails over a 24 hour period. Received no response. I filed a PayPal complaint and then got an immediate but terse response, telling me I had forgotten to do some non-intuitive menu-based thing after the initial transaction. Plus an offer for a $150 refund on my original $190 purchase. I took the offer. I could have manually granted myself their clunky resources access. But I didn't have the stomach for a long-term relationship with a paid-for product support attitude like that. Buyer beware.

I never had problems with support.
I think you forgot to set your forum username in the costumer area to be able to download addons.
RE> " think you forgot to set your forum username in the costumer area to be able to download addons"
Yes. That's what they told me. I had to file a PayPal complaint to finally get that answer. They didn't answer email support requests.
This is not lame? You pay $190 USA dollars for the base software and don't get permission to download addons? Have to join a public forum to get what you already paid for?
I sell digital goods online. I have since 1996, at http://montana-riverboats.com. My return policy is "your satisfaction." In other words I grant a 100% refund for any reason. I get a handful of such requests per year. These c*&(%ers took me for 25% of my money 48 hours after the initial transaction. I could tell it was reasonably good software at worst, and possibly better than that. Their attitude (not their software) deserves a digital knife. And that's what I gave them.
I can be wrong but I think that that instructions was explained in the automatic email you get when the order is complete. Plus it's explained in the community forum, too.
For my experience for technical issues I've got answers in a couple of hours.
They take 25% after 48h maybe because you've got the possibility to download the code. If all the costumers for any little problem ask for a refund of 100%... well, they can start to give away their code for free!
it's a decent software...better than most free but not as good as it's paid competitors.
Support is dead. check xenforo.com and you'll see.
I doubt XF will be around in 2013.
Summary: We migrated a 9 year old, vBulletin board to XenForo and have not looked back since. The software performs fantastically and is an absolute dream to develop add-ons for. Our users love it, and I love working with it. There is a dark shadow which is the ridiculous lawsuit from Internet Brands (vBulletin). It is widely believed that XenForo will win the case. But, even if the worst does happen and XenForo Ltd go out of business, we are left with one powerful, stable, and fantastic forum software.
I migrated a 5000 users forum and nothing was lose.
After the lawsuit will be solved in favor of xenforo ltd development will restart.
In the remote worst scenario I hope it will be sold or released as opensource. I don't think that this software will die... It is to good!
Great user interface. Most of the other forum software programs are very dated. XenForo is like going from a Windows 90's to 21st century Mac interface. Draws the user in and then makes navigating the forum easy and intuitive. Allows user to follow their interests on the forum while showcasing other content.
Great support community on the XenForo website.
Add-ons and contractors for setup and special projects if needed.
Very efficient software uses much less server resources so forum operators can save money on the hosting side and users have a quicker interface.
Styling and add-ons are a walk in the park! Once XenForo updates all add-ons seem to work seamlessly without having. Remember those terrible days of downloading an add-on and installing it while making 20+ edits to your forum to make it work? Then when the core software was updated it stopped working completely? Well XenForo gets past that in ways I don't even understand. I've had an unsupported add-ons/styles work since for the past 3 updates (no add-on upgrade required!).
Oh and how can this blasphemous idea of creating a style from only one file work??? Just go to Extra.css and EVERYTHING (I kid you not) can be controlled with this file. You may have to add !important, but I can tell you this beats going across 4-5 different files to create a beautiful template. I did a test on VB and XF for the exact same theme. I took me about 4 hours to do VB and approximately 1 hour to do XF. I didn't know what to do after that! It was EASY.
For $140 and $40 renewal. I'd say this software is far to low a price for what it can offer you. The developers are amazing.
Of course the default theme colors are a bit of eye sore, but for they lack in color experience they make up for in coding.
I submitted before finishing what I was typing!!! Revised summary here. I'm terrible at typing these days. I'm multi-task too much.

You know what else rocks? Not having 20 billion updates for bug fixes. There are a few bugs, but nothing that makes us vulnerable past any other forum software. In fact I haven't had more than a handful of spam accounts sign-up. Once I created a human question, it was ZERO sign-ups. I can't even find a vulnerability when googled (unlike other software).
Summary: What are you waiting for!!! XenForo is the best!
Lawsuit ended!!!!!!! GO XENFORO!!!
Xenforo mods like Brogan are rude, unprofessional, lack courtesy. Jeremy (sales support) is also the very same way. These idiots have no personality, no appreciation for customers and a blatant rip off of vBulletin from day one.
Don't waste your money. It's a rip off too and very ugly. Take your business to those who treat you respectfully and appreciatively. These guys are jerks.
