XenForo vs vBulletin: The Movie

A funny (who said "realistic") animation about the current fight and lawsuit between the vBulletin company, Internet Brands and XenForo developers.

In case you are not aware, XenForo was founded by former vBulletin employees, in order to create an entire new product based on their previous experience. Unfortunately, vBulletin is not very pleased about this new competitor reaching the field, and they sued their former employees, Kier Darby, Mike Sullivan and Ashley, claiming that XenForo may violate vBulletin's copyright and indirectly hurt its market share indecently.

By the way, if you are interested in this story, this video is more instructive...

Unfort the video is very

Unfort the video is very biased without really shedding any light on the at times insane legal issues vBulletin have raised. For example, did you know vBulletin claim that using zip and ftp infringes their copyright!

I think they could have

I think they could have captured a bigger share with a lower price, at least for version 1.0, but I wouldn't let the "barely out of beta" scare you. Especially after the prices people paid for vBulletin 4 which many would argue is only "barely out of beta" today.? The thing is, no one really should be complaining about the costs of forum software as there are some very decent free options out there. If you don't want to spend money you can make a decent site with MyBB or phpbb,
