Is PhpBB still the best forum software?

PhpBB is clearly the most famous and most used forum software (so much that many people think that Forum = PhpBB, as Administrate a MySQL = PhpMyAdmin...)

But, is it still the best one? Really? Should this software be removed from the throne?

Thank you!

I think it is still the best. It's pretty simple to use even if you have only basic knowledge of PHP and PHPMyAdmin.

Well, vbulliten 4 is really good too. But it's a paid software. Specially the integration of CMS and AJax. But phpBB 3 isn't far behind either. There's a CMS MOD for phpBB 3 in the works and plus they are working on Ajax as well for the phpBB 4. But that's going to come in due time.

If you need a forum only, then phpBB is perfect, but yes, if you want to integrate it to other services, like CMS or Wiki, it will be a little bit more complex (installation of bridges or plugins will be needed)
