I'm looking for forum software that will allow "members only" forums for my charity. The subject matter the community group discusses is sensitive and my market research indictaes that secure, private boards are essential to the users. People have access to a free topic forum currently but are really unhappy with it as it is public, outdated and limited.
The charity will charge a small fee to members to fund other initiatives to help the community.
RSS feed would be useful too.
I hope you can help so our community can feel safe and support each other.
Hi, and welcome here!
I think you have two possible choices: PhpBB (free, a little bit complex to configure, but has everything you need) and IPBoard (commercial, more expensive, but, again, has everything you'll need.)
Do not hesitate to test our live demonstration to know more.

Thanks for the help.
I like the IPBoard but I'm not clear on the pricing structure. With the hosted option ($9.99) do you also get chat, blogs gallery etc or are they extra costs?
Yes, but I would recommend the Standard 25 Pack, for $19.99/month, because the limit of 10 online users is really low with the Basic 10 pack.

20 users would be ideal to test with are there any other options?
Thanks for your quick response.
No, after these packs, you have the Advanced Plans, but they are too much expensive when you begin. Anyway, you can easily migrate from a pack to another one (just don't pre-pay for a year .
Anyway, the most important is too have an unlimited members & bandwidth, this is what could cost much in other hosting websites (if you overhaul the quota). If you are unsure, start with the Basic 10 Pack, and then upgrade if your members start saying: "Hey I can't log in anymore!"
